The Beauty of God-Belonging to The Right Time or Season
Acts 3:1-7
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.
There is beauty in all of us even if we don't feel so beautiful. Today, I want to talk to you about a beauty that exceeds any natural beauty-- God's beauty!
In the story above we find a lame man who is carried daily to the Temple to the gate Beautiful to beg for alms. There this man lay in his own despair, want , and need-- having to be dependant on others. Probably feeling useless and thinking he had no purpose or value. This is definately not a picture of beauty, not according to the natural eye. However, this description depicts so many today. We go to church but yet we are crippled by our own despair, want and need. We live in lack and have no spiritual strength because we are bound by our past, low self-esteem, and feelings of having no purpose or value. Because our circumstances seem impossible we have become as the beggar, we watch others go by walking in the fulness of their ministries, jobs, walking in prosperity, joy, and peace. We see others being promoted in life and we sit helplessly by wondering, "Why?". We sit in the ugliness of our situation wondering, "How?".
But the word for you today is don't give up! Don't give in to your circumstances! God has beauty he wants to bring forth in your life. Just as the lame man lay by the gate Beautiful day after day and year after year, even though people thought things would never change for him, even though, his situation seemed impossible, God had a different plan. And God has a different agenda for you!
The word Beautiful means to belong to the right time or season; to flourish. In other words, whether the lame man's friends knew it or not, by placing him by the gate Beautiful they were proclaiming daily that the lame man belonged to the right time and season! That he would flourish! And he did flourish! At his appointed time, Peter and John came by and fastened their eyes on the beggar (seeing the man in his destiny and not his situation) told the lame man in the name of Jesus to rise up and walk. And at their word the lame man stood up out of the ugliness of his situation into the beauty of God's Glory.
Their are some of you today that are like that lame man, you are in a season of waiting. You are waiting for your appointed time or season. God's word for you is don't give up! Just as the lame man was at the gate daily, you must continue to to carry the word God has placed in your spirit. You must hold on to the promise He has given you. Do not abort the word in you and miss your appointed time. Even though everyone may tell you there is no use, God is saying at your appointed time, at the right season He is going to give you beauty for your ashes. Ashes are the residue of something burnt. Some of you have been consumed by your situation leaving you with nothing but the residue of shame, heartache and an emotional roller coaster . You're holding on to the hurt, disappointments, and insults of the fire you've been through. But God is about to cause beauty to arise out of your past, your hurt, and your despair. God is about change your mourning into dancing. That thing in your life that you have been going through that feels like death, He's going to give you an oil of joy for a spirit of heaviness. Somebody is at their appointed time today, just as the lame man was, and God is about to cause you to rise up out of depression into joy, to rise up out of debt into financial blessing, to rise up out of confusion into understanding , to rise up out of turmoil into peace , to rise up out of sickness into health, to rise up out of no purpose into a divine agenda, to rise up out of closed doors into opened doors!!! Know today that God is about to bring beauty forth out of your situation !!!! Don't give UP!!!
Lord, help us to realize your beauty comes in time. Strengthen us to endure until our appointed season, when we become as that tree that's planted by the water that brings forth her fruit in due season! Amen!
Samuel 1:1-28
Hannah was someone who knew what it was to experience
emotional turmoil. She was barren. And to be barren in
her day made her subject to ridicule and shame. I
imagine she probably felt useless, having no purpose or
value. Because of her unfruitfulness the scripture
says her adversary provoked her causing her to fret.
How? By constantly reminding her of her condition. The
word fret means to cause emotional strain, to eat or
gnaw into, corrode or fray. In other words, the enemy
had caused such emotional stress in her life that it
had begun to gnaw or corrode away her faith. In so
much, that it began to affect her physically---she
could not eat. She was so emotionally distraught that
her countenance had become one of sorrow. She was
woman who was barren and empty!
You may feel like Hannah-empty! You have
listened to the assaults of the enemy, telling you, you
will not be able to carry or fulfill the word or
ministry that God has spoken into your spirit. And
because you have listened to the voice of your enemy,
you feel barren and useless, having no purpose or
value. You have become like Hannah and are
unfruitful. Wanting to carry the vision, the word, the
purpose of God; but, instead you are filled with
emptiness. You have allowed your circumstances to gnaw
away your faith. Your countenance has become one of
sorrow, depression, worry, tension, and fear. Instead
of joy you live day by day under mental exhaustion and
strain. But God is saying to you today, “Don’t look
at your condition but your position!”. And that’s
exactly what Hannah did.
Hannah went to the temple with her husband as
according to custom. The temple represents the
presence of God. In other words, Hannah went to God’s
presence. It’s in God’s presence that you learn to get
your eyes off your condition and see your position. It
was there that she poured her heart out to God. It was
in His presence she told God to look upon her
affliction, to see her emptiness, to see her
unfruitfulness, to she how barren she was, to see the
accusations of the enemy. And when she had deposited
her situation into God’s hands, the priest came and
thought Hannah was drunk. Let me insert here, “Isn’t
that like the religious world! Not understanding when
you really get in God’s presence.” When Hannah
explained to the priest she was praying he told her,
her request was granted. Then the scripture said
Hannah ate and her countenance was sad no more. And
according to her appointed time she brought forth a son
named Samuel, meaning God heard.
It is in our time of feeling unfruitful and barren that
we must go to the presence of the Lord. It’s in His
presence that things happen. We too, must be like
Hannah and cry God look at my affliction, see the
emptiness, see how barren and unfruitful I am, see the
accusations of the enemy. You may be entertaining
thoughts or feelings of having no purpose or that
your situation will never change, but it’s in God’s
presence that God causes you to see beyond your
condition and impregnates you with His divine agenda.
The word that God has spoken to you must be conceived
in the divine realm before it can be manifested in the
natural realm. This was true with Hannah. Her
conception of Samuel took place in the spirit realm
before it ever took place in the natural. What am I
saying? Hannah acted in the natural in accordance with
what she knew had been conceived in the Spirit. How? By
her actions. Hannah’s whole countenance changed before
Samuel was ever conceived in the natural. She believed
what God had spoken in her spirit before it was ever
manifested. In other words, she no longer walked
around in insecurity and no purpose. She knew God had
placed His divine agenda within her and that it would
come forth in God’s appointed time. See, when faith is
combined with the Word it produces life. If you want
things to change you’ve got to let faith carry the
Word-not fear!
Today, don’t abort the word God has placed within you.
At your appointed time God’s going to cause the word He
has planted in your spirit to come forth. No matter
what your circumstances dictate, you must be like
Hannah and walk in assurance that God is able to
manage, use and control your situation. Your
countenance and actions must be one of faith and not
fear. Your speech and actions must depict you know
God’s going to do what He said He would do regardless
of your adversity. You may not see it right now but at
your appointed time God’s going to begin to bring
forth your Samuel. Your enemy is going to know you have
been heard of God! At your appointed time doors are
going to open, healing is going to come forth, joy is
going to spring forth , restoration to your home will
arise, and divine purpose will stand up in your life.
Today, make it a point to go to the presence of God.
Get in his presence driving in your car, at work , and
at home. For it’s there that you will see beyond your
condition and see your divine position. Even if things
don’t change for you immediately, don’t abort the
promise! But carry it until your time of deliverance -
for I hear a Samuel crying!!!!!
Lord, help us this year to walk according to our divine
position instead of our condition. Let your word come
forth in our life. Amen!
